Can you identify the Q'ero holding the Polaroid? If so, e-mail me at [email protected] Several years ago, prior to leaving the US for Peru, I had become interested in a area of the Andes called Q'eros rumored to be the home of the last Inca. The villages had been isolated from the rest of the world due to the remote location of the villages at over 4,000 meters and the harsh climate and poor living conditions. In researching the Q'ero land, the people and their shamanic path I came across a video on You Tube called Q'ero, In Search of the Last Inca by Mo Fini. Mo trekked up to Q'ero in the early 90's with a film crew of 10 people to document the Q'ero. His film "Q'eros, The Last of the Incas" contains a wide variety of footage of the Q'ero community prior to some of the more recent introductions of modern artifacts like radio towers, corrugated roofs, the road to Pampacasa on the frontier of Q'eros. Perhaps this is the last footage of the Q'ero to be filmed before regular integration for the mountain shaman and "last Inca" began with the outside world began? In my film, I try to capture both the past and the present. Mo has graciously offered to share his footage with me in the production of The Path of the Sun in order to highlight the way it was and the way it is now. Here is the full version of Mo Fini's documentary "Q'eros, The Last of the Inca"
