It’s been 3-months since the last update….
In July, I moved to the very special and wonderful Nevada City, CA in the High Sierras. It’s simply beautiful here with all the giant Sequoias and Oaks, scenic mountains and Yuba River. The town is also a great placed filled with all sorts of artists and musicians and people with an “open conscious”. It has turned out to be a perfect place to edit The Path of the Sun.
So, where am I at with the project?
First, I had to convert over 3,000 video clips to the proper editing format for Final Cut Pro. Then, I reviewed all of the clips. That took some time as did reviewing all the interview footage. Most of the interviews were conducted in either Quechua or Spanish, so I also had to do some translation.
Now I am in the narrowing down process. Deciding which clips to use in the film and how to link a conversation with one person to another.
I have also storyboarded the introduction or movie opener which will consist of a visual montage depicting the history of the world and how our current path has diverged sharply with that of indigenous peoples who had a strong and harmonious relationship with their natural environment.
I had originally thought the editing for the film could be completed by November, but now it looks like a 2014 release is more realistic. I am now shooting for the first half of next year.
On another note, I am seeking additional financing for film festival submissions. Originally the Kickstarter program was offered to raise these funds. However, a grant that was promised fell through after 4 months of waiting for funds that never came. These funds were to be used for the editing suite. Since the funds did not come in I used the Kickstarter funds for the editing suite and some software and am no gearing up to seek sponsors for the film to fund the festival entry fees.
So, that’s about it with the film other than the announcement of a new YouTube Channel that will feature Bonus Material from the film. You can check that out here.
